Third County Board Candidate

A third interested candidate's name has joined the fray for a vacancy appointment by the Champaign County Democratic Party. This time it isn't someone who recently lost a Democratic primary for a board seat this year already. For those who missed it this is for the District 6 seat being vacated by Joshua Hartke, who is resigning due to his impending move to Colorado. From today's News-Gazette:
UI law school clinic attorney becomes third candidate for Hartke's seat
Tracy Douglas, a supervising attorney at the University of Illinois College of Law's community preservation clinic, is the third candidate for the District 6 vacancy on the Champaign County Board.

Douglas joins Pattsi Petrie and Charles Young as applicants for the seat that had been occupied by Josh Hartke, a Champaign Democrat. His resignation took effect Monday.

District 6, which is almost entirely within the Champaign city limits, is bounded by Bloomington Road on the north, Kirby Avenue on the south, Prospect Avenue on the east and Duncan Road on the west.

No date has been set yet for precinct committee members to interview candidates and select a board member. Michelle Jett, the first vice chair of the county Democratic Party, said Monday that they hope to appoint a successor within the next week.
