What is the Cheat Sheet?

Information about the Champaign County government and how to learn more about the County Board and other County offices such as:

  • Its membership information and contact information
  • Policy issues
  • Latest news links

  • Information for candidates and about candidates
  • Election information and upcoming races
  • More up to date meeting information
  • Primers on major county issues
  • Issue positions and candidate statements

In time, with some hard work, this will hopefully be an easy and quick guide on what's going on with the County government, how to effect change in it, and how it works for everyday voters. Someday I hope it can be useful enough for the political wonks, help folks become more political wonky and maybe even run for and become part of their local government.

The information is intended to be factual and based on government resources, local journalism sources, government officials themselves (either directly or through those same sources) and presented without spin as we observe it. We aren't endorsing any candidates or party. We merely hope people will simply find their county government more easily accessible, influencing it easier, and voting for it more informed.

It's a work in progress. Comments, suggestions and criticisms are welcome to help make it better! Also see our sister website (a work in even more progress): Cheat Sheet: C-U Local

  1. I'm looking for up-to-date lists of Dem and GOP committee precinct people. There are lists on the County Clerk's website, but they include only phone numbers for some members and no emails. The county GOP website has a list but no way to contact them---and at least for my precinct, the name is not the same as on the CC's list, so who knows if it's current. The Dems' website says it has one, but it's not there. Do you have such lists? Any suggestions? Thanks Ann Prisland. prisland.ann@gmail.com

  2. As far as I know only the County parties themselves have the most up to date and current lists of their own PCs. The County Clerk lists tend to only be updated after even year primary elections and don't reflect vacancies or filled vacancies by the Chairman afterward. I'd contact the County Party offices for the latest contact information.

For additional contact information, I haven't seen any compiled or up-to-date lists on-line, but a lot of the PCs are local officials, candidates, public figures, etc. They tend to have public emails, facebook or other social media, etc that can be searched for.

If you find someone who compiles and shares an up-to-date list with extra contact information, I'd love to hear about it!
