Master Naturalist Training

More information from the Master Naturalist Program's website and facebook page at the links. An excerpt from today's News-Gazette blurb on it:
Registration open for Master Naturalist program's fall classes
Registration is open for a Master Naturalist training program that will kick off in August.

The East Central Illinois Master Naturalist Program is open to all area residents and is sponsored by University of Illinois Extension, the Champaign County Forest Preserve District, the Champaign Park District and the Urbana Park District.

Master Naturalists are trained to protect natural areas and teach others about Illinois' natural history, environment and conservation. They learn about Illinois ecosystems from experts in the field, said Extension Horticulture Educator Ryan Pankau, who organizes the training.

Members are actively engaged with nature, gathering prairie seeds, giving tours, taking care of trails, collecting data on wildlife populations and much more.
